I bought a sewing machine for Christmas 2025 and found the bunny pattern, advertised as “beginner friendly” and knew I had to make it for my little girl. The bunny was actually my second sewing project, the first being a simple zip up pencil bag. There was a lot to learn but it was a lot of fun and the tutorial was well written. My little girl calls the bunny the “Totoro bunny” given the Totoros on the pattern.

My older boy wanted a doll too and specifically a clown monkey. The monkey was harder to make and I had to add an additional tail (the pattern didn’t come up with a tail) but I think it turned out all right. I especially liked the fabric choices of the clown costume, I think the colours work well together.

This will do me for a little while for making dolls. It’s fun making projects that are relatively quick to complete compared to cross stitching and knitting but I’m a bit over cutting out little bits of fabric, working with very small seam allowances and stuffing dolls. Next sewing project would be something bigger, like clothes or a bag!
