I started cross stitching in 2020 but didn’t have a centralised place to document my work till now, so here it is! Part 1 of 3:

Space bookmark

Completion Date: May 2020

Specifications: Physical kit, on aida (probably 14 count) with adhesive felt backing

My first cross stitch! From a kit ordered on Etsy. Came with everything I needed, easy and straightforward to follow. I didn’t know to keep to the stitches directions consistent, but it still came out pretty well.

Highland Cow

Completion Date: ? 2020

Specifications: Physical kit, on aida and in magnetic frame

Bought this kit before I even really knew what cross stitch was. I visited Scotland in 2015 and I wanted to buy a souvenir that was interesting but small (we traveled light). I found in one of the touristy shops in the Old Town, Edinburgh a little cross stitch kit of a highland cow. It was adorable, came with everything (thread, aida, instructions/pattern, needle and the acrylic case with a magnet on the back). It’s approximately 6x6cm (2×2 and a bit inches?) I didn’t get around to stitching it until 2020, after the bookmark. The little guy now sits proudly on my fridge, judging me cook.

Screaming bird

Completed: September 2021

Specifications: Digital pattern, on 14 count aida

Completed during the height of the pandemic, middle of lock-downs. Life was weird and uncertain, so it’s a vibe. Stitches more consistent now. A bit of a boring stitch and not all that visually interesting but it was a fun project to do at the time.
